National Living Wage – 4 months on

The National Living wage came into force in April this year and early studies show that businesses have seen their overall wage bill increase though only 6% said it rose to a large extent. A further 16% of firms expect the National Living wage to increase their wage bill at some point in the future. Some of those businesses that have seen the wage bill go up have actually recouped some of that by passing the cost onto its customers. A small amount of business have said that they have reduced its workers hours or they have cut back on recruiting to enable the wage bill to be smaller. 

Auto Enrolment – Do you still need to stage?

There are still lots of Companies that are due to Auto Enrol their staff into a pension scheme with the final staging dates set for 2018 so there is still a staggering amount of employers either in denial or have not even thought about what to do the situation. TV campaigns have recently stepped up as a reminder that whether you're a hairdresser, an architect or employ a personal care assistant, if you employ at least one person you are an employer and you have certain legal duties to ensure that you are auto enrolling staff, if you are an employee or an employer and you are still not sure what your obligations are then the best place to get advice on line is from the Pension Regulator
