Job Summary

Our client based in Walton on Thames are a leading distributer and services provider of logistics. They have an exciting opportunity for a Buying Assistant to contact suppliers and ensure that goods are delivered in a timely manner and enable the company to meeting delivery schedules.

Job Description

  • Contact suppliers, regarding delivery queries, late deliveries and future deliveries by phone and e-mail, ensuring our suppliers performance is in line with our expectations.
  • Ensure that correct acknowledgements are requested, received and loaded on the system and chase overdue acknowledgements.
  • To run order books and reports, to measure supplier performance, when required.
  • To run the reports for P/O’s to be printed and ensure they are countersigned and sent out to suppliers, daily
  • To provide general support for senior personnel
  • To liaise with QA regarding new vendor se-up. To set-up and run ‘Business Partner’ on SAP.
  • To chase paperwork for direct shipment P/O’s and ‘nurse’ through the system.
  • To advise Sales, Customer Service team and Procurement Manager of any problematic date changes to delivery schedules.
  • To liaise and work closely with Compliance officer regarding any ‘end use’ requirements for vendors.
  • To discuss crediting issues with Purchase Ledger assistant and chase P/O’s, after alerting accounts, via spreadsheet of any open occurrences.
  • To chase P/O acknowledgements, at the earliest opportunity for two contract customers.
  • Role Includes:
  • Supporting the team with any cover required for absence of administrator, planned and unplanned.
  • Ensure that the suppliers engage with the need for honest, up to date information, when requested.
  • Running reports from SAP



Required Skills

  • Minimum GCSE standard English and Maths, further education is preferable
  • Experience within a procurement team, along with good administration and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • SAP highly desirable
